Patrons enjoying a pleasant Saturday night out at a Ruddington pub found themselves surrounded by police and emergency services!
Officers sped to The Red Heart on Easthorpe Street at around 9.20pm, and cordoned off the road, after a glass bottle was believed to have been thrown at a man in a fight – which left him nursing a neck wound. An ambulance also attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering. He has since been discharged.
Detective Inspector Gayle Hart, of Nottinghamshire Police, says: “Fighting is totally unacceptable and we will always look to take action against those who commit such offences. The incident happened at a time when the pub is likely to have been busy and I’d appeal for anyone who has any information or footage of the altercation to call Nottinghamshire Police.”
Business owner Rahul Patel had earlier quashed social media rumours circulating that someone had been stabbed at his pub, telling RUDDINGTON.info: “There was an incident. The police and ambulance were called and we have some property damage – but nothing major.”
He added: “Police have cctv and they are dealing with it.”
Detectives confirm they are now investigating the incident, and anyone with further information is asked to ‘phone Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 738 of 19th September 2020 – or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Following the investigation, a suspect has been charged and remanded in custody in connection with this incident.
Quaid Gayle, 29, of Broxtowe Lane, Aspley, has been charged with affray. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded in custody to next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 8th February 2021.
